Color me apostate
Check out this audio recording from an LDS mission conference. I can only link to it because “Embedding as been disabled by request.” We’ll see how long it stays up.
It must be a sure sign that I have fallen from the true faith that I think this mission president is completely full of post-processed bio-matter. I just makes my blood boil to listen to nonsense like this coming from a man who is in a position of authority. I’m sure at least part of it is my own issues cropping up here since it was speeches like this that had me hating myself and believing I was a worthless sinner for years.
A few points of interest:
- For starters you don’t get pornographic pop-up unless you are on shady sites to begin with. Anything is possible, I suppose, and maybe the surfing the Internet in Europe has different norms. Europe is generally more tolerant of nudity than the U.S. Still, in 10 years of working on the Internet, I have never been “surprised” by a porno pop-up. If his wife is getting pornographic pop-up in his own home, it makes you wonder where she’s surfing.
- Assuming innocence on the part of his family, I have two words for him: pop-up blocker.
- For another it is beyond absurd to suggest that a single pornographic pop-up necessitated a hasty retreat to the bathroom to relieve the tension. The kid was surfing porn. The pres buying the kid’s nonsense that he was the victim of a random pornographic pop-up is just one more indicator that he has no idea what he is talking about.
- How about that guilt trip? “You’re not getting baptisms cause all you have to do is wank just once and God will abandon you.” How about: They’re not getting baptisms because France (and Europe in general) is very skeptical of religions of all stripes and particularly of religions that brand masturbation as Satanic.
I got about forty-five seconds into the clip before I had to shut it off. Things like that just make me ill now. Thanks for listening to it for the rest of us!
It actually took me a couple of tries to listen to the whole thing. My initial reaction was the same as yours.
